Description
The use of a 2:1 maltodextrin:fructose formulation in this product has been specially developed to deliver carbohydrates extremely quickly.
2:1 Maltodextrin: Fructose works faster than glucose-only preparations. Although glucose derivatives release glucose into the blood faster than fructose (fruit sugar), the SGLT1 transporter in the lining of the gut (responsible for glucose absorption) quickly becomes saturated, queuing the glucose molecules for absorption. Normally, the maximum absorption rate of glucose is limited to 60 grams per hour (1 gram per minute). The combination of glucose:fructose in a 2:1 ratio in the Fast Acting Gel provides a total absorption of 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour (1.5 grams per minute).
Usage
In the case of the Diabetes gel : Tear the top of the gel pack and squeeze the entire contents into the mouth. Let the gel sit in the mouth for 5 seconds before swallowing. Check your blood sugar after 15 minutes and repeat with an additional dose if necessary.
